Vietnam Channel is the principal and most watched channel in Vietnam, called or branded as VTV channel, its programming is directly controlled by the government.

In 1960, United States launched 2 channels In Vietnam. One in English and the second in Vietnam language. During the war, the channel broadcasts intemperately produced by technical problems. After the war was over, the reunification in the South incorporating villages in the center and north of the country, the TV station dispersed in all the country made a big network.

In 1978, the channel was rebranded to VTV adding colors to its programming. The following towns; Da Nang, Hue, Can Tho and Ho Chin Minh City are a part of VTV broadcasting area. In 2003, more than 80% population was covered by TV broadcasting although the average in villages and farms was really low.
