Dubai One was first launched as Channel 33. On 2004, they renamed the TV channel to Dubai One. The new name came with a hope for a new audience, targeting the westernized Arab with new American shows. Dubai one is owned by DMI - Dubai Media Incorporated. It is a 24 hour channel which offers free English content. The channel is available for watch in the Middle East, North Africa and on the internet. Alongside English speaking series, the channel broadcasts stories from inside Dubai and around it. It airs one of the most watched shows around the world, The Bold and the Beautiful, only 9 months after its on in the United States.

The majority of Dubai Ones’ series come from the United States, and some from United Kingdom and Australia. Also, you can watch 3 free movies each night. Dubai One has broad-casted more than 300 films. Since Dubai One is a partner with Warner Bros. and Diseny it has access to a large collection of movies. A recent addition was made, once a month on Thursday, as Dubai One started showing Bollywood movies.

Dubai One has a range of in-house productions, and “Catch Up Friday” - repeated programmes from the past week, if you have missed a show.

The series shown on Dubai One suffer from censorship, controlling sex and political scenes, in order to keep in line with the United Arab Emirates Islamic culture (which has strict moral and religious rules).
