Canal Uno is the only national channel of commercial public-Colombia (after the Channel A would become Canal Institucional in 2004), operated by the state company RTVC.
Its programming is done by private companies known as programmers, federated since 2004 in temporary partnerships. Within its program can highlight the variety shows (such as Sweet, The Show of the Stars), news (Noticias Uno, CM & y Telepaís), sports (Telepolémica) and journalism (Contravía).
On June 13, 1954 was inaugurated on television in Colombia, Bogota channel 8 and 10 in Manizales and Medellín. Later the only television channel to be known as HJTV-2/HKRN-4 and National Television of Colombia. In the 60 would change the channel 8 to channel 7, to allow entry of the channel 9 to Bogotá (Teletigre, which aired between 1966 and 1971). Until the beginning of transmissions Teletigre, the National Canal (now Canal Uno) was the only television station in Colombia. When the channel Teletigre successor became national, the National Canal then became the first string. In the 80s became the Chain One and from January 1, 1998 is designated by its current name. The new face of Canal Uno also recently premiered on Monday August 1, 2011.
